March 30, 2024 | 02:30 PM – 04:00 PM (GMT+6)
SANEM International Trade Centre is organizing a public symposium on “Emerging Contour of Bangladesh-India-Japan Triangular Cooperation”. The symposium is scheduled on March 30, Saturday, from 02:30 PM to 04:00 PM (GMT+6).
Bangladesh, India, and Japan boast strong cultural, economic, and strategic ties. Japan and India are key development partners for Bangladesh. The India-Bangladesh subregion is a focal point for regional initiatives like BBIN and BIMSTEC. Japan’s involvement in development projects in Northeast India creates a platform for trilateral cooperation. Both Japan and India are heavily invested in Bangladesh’s infrastructure, and free trade agreements are being explored.
This growing trilateral relationship has the potential to shape regional cooperation in the Bay of Bengal. A stronger partnership could attract investment to Northeast India and improve connectivity across the region. The first episode of 𝑺𝑨𝑵𝑬𝑴 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝑪𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒆 presents 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬 series will delve into the specifics of emerging triangular cooperation among Bangladesh, India, and Japan, their contemporary economic dimensions, shared challenges, and the way forward.
Recognizing the evolving complexity of international trade, particularly in light of Bangladesh’s upcoming LDC graduation, SANEM established the International Trade Centre in October 2018. By fostering knowledge and expertise, the International Trade Centre empowers students, researchers, policymakers, businesses, and individuals to navigate the ever-shifting landscape of global trade. The center sheds light on trade dynamics and cutting-edge international trade topics through workshops, training programs, capacity-building events, and rigorous studies.
