Collaboration: Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES)
Starting date: October 15, 2025
Completion date: November 30, 2025

Project description: This research aims to map the landscape of labour unions and federations across Bangladesh, focusing on their structure, reach, and representation. The study will identify and categorize active trade unions and federations across various sectors. Additionally, it will also assess the unions’ capacity to represent workers’ interests, including their engagement in issues such as wages, working conditions, gender equality, and occupational safety. By addressing the operational challenges, political dynamics, and impact factors that shape union activities, this research will provide valuable insights for strengthening labour representation and fostering inclusive labour policies in alignment with Bangladesh’s national goals and international commitments.
