Ex-Ante Assessment of Trade Competitiveness of RMG Factories Supported by the PROGRESS Project

Project description: The research evaluates the long-term impact of the PROGRESS project on the competitiveness and sustainability of Bangladesh’s Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector. The assessment will examine the effects of the project’s interventions ranging from worker training, women’s leadership promotion, decarbonization practices, and ESG compliance on the productivity and export competitiveness of the sector. Through rigorous primary data collection from factory workers, management and relevant stakeholders, the study will assess productivity improvements, market share shifts, and the impact of the upcoming LDC graduation on the sector. The research aims to provide actionable policy recommendations to enhance Bangladesh’s position in global value chains and ensure the sustainability of RMG industry.
