Collaboration:  Energy and Mineral Resource Division, Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council (BEPRC), Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC
Starting date:  December 15, 2025
Completion date: January 20, 2026

Project description: This project supports the Government of Bangladesh in revising the Integrated Energy and Power Sector Master Plan (IEPMP). It aims to develop a transparent and reproducible energy-economy modeling framework to strengthen evidence-based energy planning. The study addresses key challenges related to energy security fiscal sustainability and the transition toward green and clean energy.
The research applies scenario-based energy demand forecasting that links macroeconomic trends with sectoral energy demand supply prices and emissions. A modern energy-economy model will be developed to capture economic growth structural change technology adoption and price dynamics. The analysis will produce short- to medium-term forecasts and long-term scenarios to guide affordable and reliable energy pathways.
The study includes two phases. The first focuses on macroeconomic trends and scenario design. The second estimates sectoral energy demand and supply. The outputs will include a concise report policy options and infographics to support an implementable and coherent revision of the IEPMP.
