South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM) and the World Bank are organizing a seminar titled “Growth and Fiscal Implications for South Asia and Bangladesh”

In the midst of a challenging global economic environment, what are the growth prospects for South Asian countries including Bangladesh? What are the inefficiencies and vulnerabilities countries need to address to navigate a dimming growth outlook? The latest edition of the World Bank’s semi-annual South Asia Development Update provides growth projections for the region and explores economic policy challenges. This edition’s focus areas include domestic revenue mobilization, the economic potential of migration and climate adaptation.

The Bangladesh Development Update reports on recent developments in Bangladesh’s economy. Based on these developments and on recent policy changes, the BDU updates the outlook for Bangladesh’s economy. This edition’s special topic focuses on restoring financial stability for sustainable growth.

Join us for this discussion featuring World Bank Chief Economist for South Asia Franziska Ohnsorge and World Bank Senior Economist Dhruv Sharma. The event will also feature a panel discussion including Prof Sharmind Nilormi, Dr Zaidi Sattar and Dr Mustafizur Rahman. Dr Shafiun Shimul, Professor of Dhaka University and Honorary Director of SANEM, will chair the event.

SANEM and the World Bank invite academicians, experts, development practitioners, policymakers, students and all interested individuals to participate in the event.
