Political Economy fuses the disciplines of economics and political science and creates a unique framework through which the complex nexus of development and institutions, both political and economic, can be explored. Political Economy examines how different sets of institutions incentivize various economic and political stakeholders, resulting in differences in path and pace of economic development despite the similar starting points. To fully comprehend the dynamics of the domestic and global economy, understanding the political economy perspective in the context of Bangladesh is vital. In continuation of such effort, SANEM launched the Political Economy Centre on October 2018, which acts as a platform for exchanging ideas, initiating research studies, and arranging capacity building workshops on national and global topics.
