SANEM-DFID Capacity Building Workshop on “Growth, Institutions and Trade Modeling”

In order to build up the capacity of young researchers on Growth, Institutions and Trade Modeling issues SANEM in collaboration with DFID organized a day long workshop titled “Growth, Institutions and Trade Modeling” on February 17, 2017 at BRAC Centre Inn, Mohakhali, Dhaka. In the workshop four major sessions titled “Low income traps and institutional quality: A Cross Country Analysis”, “Institution and Economic Growth”, “Gravity Modeling of International Trade” and “Institution and Economic Growth” were conducted. Professor Sabyasachi Kar, Institute of Economic Growth, University of Delhi, India, Dr. Mirza M. Hassan, Adjunct Fellow, BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Dhaka, Dr. Sohela Nazneen, Professor, Department of International Relations, University of Dhaka and Research Fellow, Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, UK, Dr. Somesh K. Mathur, Professor of Economics, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, Dr. Bazlul Haque Khondker, Chairman, SANEM and Professor, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka and Dr. Selim Raihan, Executive Director, SANEM and Professor, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka were the key persons of the sessions. A total number of forty-nine participants from diversified sectors including research organizations, public and private universities were attended in the workshop. At the closing session, Dr. Selim Raihan, Executive Director, SANEM delivered his concluding remarks and awarded the participants with certificates.
